Capital Facilities Committee

Comprised of two City Councilmembers, the Capital Facilities Committee was established to review and monitor large capital improvement program expenditures and selected extra budget allocation requests. 

Meetings are scheduled on an as-needed basis and are open to the public.

David Newman is a 21-year resident of Thousand Oaks, elected to the City Council in 2022. Previously he served on the Thousand Oaks Planning Commission from 2014-22, acting as its chair in 2017-18 and again in 2022. Newman has a background in journalism, and has worked as a newspaper and magazine photographer, reporter, and editor. From 1999 to 2017, Newman also owned a computer network engineering consultancy with clients on four continents. He and his wife Saldju live with their dog Roni and an ever-changing cast of foster dogs. Newman is also an avid cyclist. Currently, Newman serves the community as Mayor.

Mikey Taylor, once a legendary figure in the skateboarding world, has seamlessly transitioned into a dynamic force in both business and local government. As the President of Commune Capital, he's at the forefront of revolutionizing investing in real estate.

His entrepreneurial journey extended from his skateboarding success to co-founding Saint Archer Brewing Company, which MillerCoors acquired in 2015. He also started Avni Labs, focusing on innovative digital marketing solutions.

Serving as Mayor Pro Tem for Thousand Oaks, Mikey is committed to making a tangible difference in his community. Residing in Thousand Oaks with his wife, Jen, and their four children, he blends his professional endeavors with family life and civic duties, striving to inspire the next generation.
