Planning Commission
The City's Planning Commission plays a vital role in shaping the present and future of City planning and development.
The Planning Commission's primary function is to guide the development, growth, and sustainability of cities. This multifaceted responsibility involves assessing proposed projects, land use, zoning regulations, and urban design to ensure they align with the city's goals, policies, and community needs.
Moreover, city planning commissions collaborate with various stakeholders, including government agencies, developers, residents, and advocacy groups, to foster transparent and inclusive decision-making processes. They facilitate public hearings and community engagements to gather feedback and incorporate diverse perspectives into their recommendations.
Term: Four years concurrent with nominating Councilmember; may be reappointed. Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson rotate annually every January.
Requirements: City residency; Members are required to file Fair Political Practices Commission Conflict of Interest Statements, Ethics and Sexual Harassment Training required.
