Wastewater Pipe and Maintenance Hole Relining Project

CI 5532

The City maintains approximately 415 miles of wastewater pipelines and 8,300 maintenance holes. Wastewater pipelines and maintenance access holes are video-inspected on an ongoing basis to identify issues, including deterioration that warrants refurbishment.

This project will rehabilitate approximately 19,060 linear feet of wastewater pipelines, 84 maintenance holes, and 51 service lateral connections that are affected by significant root intrusion, groundwater infiltration, and deteriorated conditions. The pipelines and maintenance holes are located on various City streets and private property easements.

Project Timeline

November 2026 through May 2027

Project Funding

A construction contract is scheduled for award on 9/15/26 to Southwest Pipeline and Trenchless Corporation (Torrance, CA) in the amount of $1,293,638.00.

Project Impacts

The construction of these improvements will take place during daytime hours. Some streets may have partial lane closures during construction. Residents and businesses within the vicinity of the construction area are advised to observe all safety signs posted at the construction zones. Residents will be asked not to run water down their wastewater drains for several hours during the pipeline lining work.

Project Benefits

This project will prevent further deterioration of the collection system, reduce groundwater infiltration, and avoid more expensive rehabilitation techniques in the future.
