FOOD RECOVERY

WHY IS THE CITY INVOLVED IN FOOD RECOVERY?

California Senate Bill (SB) 1383 (“State law”), which became effective on January 1, 2022, requires each jurisdiction in California to establish a food recovery program. Commercial edible food generators are required to donate the maximum amount of edible food that would otherwise be thrown away.
