Municipal Service Center

Come visit us!

The Municipal Service Center (MSC) is dedicated to maintaining the City’s infrastructure which includes landscaping, streets, water distribution, wastewater collection, as well as maintenance of City fleet.

Services We Provide

Administration

Our administrative team is here to assist the public with requests for maintenance or repair of City infrastructure. We assist in creating work orders for staff to perform maintenance and dispatch staff during critical times including storms and emergencies.

Fleet and Facilities

Our fleet team provides preventative maintenance and repair for the CIty's 228 vehicles and 500 pieces of equipment to ensure reliable and safe operations. Fleet also maintains a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueling station, which helps keep air air cleaner by providing fuel that emits fewer air emissions than gasoline. One-third of our fleet runs on alternative fuel, furthering the City's commitment to reduce ozone-forming tailpipe emissions.

Landscape

Our Landscape team provides landscape maintenance at City facilities, medians, and parkways across the City. This includes irrigation, tree maintenance, overseeing landscape contract maintenance, and a weed abatement program. We also remove graffiti from public and private property (when visible from the public right-of-way).

Street Maintenance

Our Street Maintenance team maintains street infrastructure, which includes roadways, street signs, concrete sidewalks, curbs and gutters, and storm drains. Street sweeping is contracted through Athens Services.

Wastewater

Our Wastewater Team provides a safe and reliable wastewater collection system. The wastewater collection infrastructure runs an ongoing cleaning cycle with over 503 miles of wastewater collection mains, 8,300 utility access holes, and 35,000 connections maintained from the west end of Newbury Park all the way to North Ranch in Westlake Village.

Water

The Water Team is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the City's water storage and distribution system. This includes the operation of 16 reservoir storage facilities, 16 pump stations, and 3 groundwater wells. The City of Thousand Oaks is one of three water purveyors that provides drinking water within City limits.
