Starting January 12, 2026, getting around Thousand Oaks will be even more convenient as new bus route changes are rolling out to better connect our community. These updates include a brand-new route, revised route names, updated schedules, and refreshed brochures.

Beginning January 12th, residents will see the launch of Route 45: Newbury Park – Rancho Conejo, which will increase service to the biotech area off Rancho Conejo Boulevard in North Newbury Park. Additionally, all routes will receive new names, updated schedules, and enhanced informational materials. The changes are designed to increase transfer opportunities across routes through staggered routes that increase frequency within walking distance. The reorganization of the routes will also help with schedule reliability; the routes travel shorter distances, which should help with on-time performance. For example, a portion of the service along Hillcrest Drive was previously served every other hour; now it will be hourly.

Transit brochures, including updated schedules and maps, will be available online and in printed form at several convenient locations, including City Hall, the Goebel Adult Center, the Teen Center, and the Transportation Center.

“We’re excited to bring this new route and improvements to our community,” said Nader Heydari, Public Works Director. “These changes reflect our ongoing commitment to providing quality, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible transit services. We hope to see increased ridership as riders enjoy the convenience of the new route.”

All routes are designed to serve major shopping centers, schools, Los Robles Hospital, community centers, and public facilities. Buses continue to offer free WiFi and bike racks for convenience and rider comfort.
