September 2024. On Saturday, September 28th, Conejo Open Space Foundation (COSF) will host its third annual Native Plantpalooza & Eco-Fest. This family event will be held at Conejo Creek North Park Lakeside Pavilion area in Thousand Oaks from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and will feature dozens of eco-related exhibitors and fun activities for kids. COSF hosts this free community event in conjunction with Calleguas Water District and a grant from the Coalition for Clean Air.

Attendees will learn about native-plant gardening and design and get tips on living more sustainably, while kids can learn about plants and animals and what they can do to help the environment. Over 30 exhibitors will have fun, creative activities for children, including microscope explorations, touch-and-talk tables about wildlife, plus coloring and crafts like bracelet-making. Exhibitors will also have native plants and other eco-related goodies for sale, as well as plenty of giveaways and swag.

At 11:00 am in the Lakeside Pavilion, Animal Actors of Hollywood will do a special presentation for kids and adults on some of the animals they may encounter in open space, such as hawks, owls, porcupines, and more, and how to interact with them.

Exhibitors include the California Wildlife Center, Citizens Climate Lobby, Food Forward, HAWKS Nature Programming, Southwestern Herpetologists Society, Theodore Payne Foundation Nursery, Acorn Design Studios, Conejo Valley Audubon Society, Conejo Valley Garden Club, the National Wildlife Federation (representing the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing), and many more.
