THOUSAND OAKS, Calif., March 11, 2025- The Thousand Oaks Library is excited to announce the launch of Books T.O. Your Door, a continuation of Zip Books, made possible by the generous support of the Friends of the Thousand Oaks Library. This program allows eligible patrons to request books that are not currently available in the library’s collection and have them delivered directly to their doorstep.

Eligibility and Request Guidelines: To participate in Books T.O. Your Door, patrons must:

  1. Be at least 18 years old.
  2. Hold a valid and active Thousand Oaks Library card.
  3. Have no more than $20 in outstanding library-related charges.
  4. Request only one book at a time, with a limit of four requests per month.
  5. Select books that are not already in the library’s collection and have been published within the last two years.
  6. Ensure the total cost of the item, including sales tax, does not exceed $50.
  7. Items must be Amazon Prime eligible books available in hardcover or trade paperback format.

How to Use the Service:

  1. Submit a Request– Fill out the Books T.O. Your Door Request Form available through the library.
  2. Receive Confirmation– Library staff will notify the patron regarding the availability of the request and estimated delivery date. If the book is unavailable, the library will provide an update.
  3. Enjoy the Book– Patrons may keep the item for up to four weeks.
  4. Return the Book– Books must be returned with the original Amazon gift receipt in the original packaging or a securely enclosed plastic bag at a library service desk. Books that are lost, damaged, or incorrectly returned may result in a replacement fee and a temporary suspension from the service.
  5. Provide Feedback– Patrons will be asked to complete a brief survey to help evaluate and improve the program.

Books acquired through this program may be added to the library’s collection if they align with the library’s collection development guidelines. If a patron is interested in requesting older publications, they are encouraged to use the library’s Interlibrary Loan service instead.

"We are thrilled to offer this unique service to our patrons, expanding access to books beyond our current collection," said Samantha Yeung, Access Services Division Manager at the Thousand Oaks Library. "Thanks to the support of the Friends of the Thousand Oaks Library, we can continue to enhance the reading experience for our community."
