The City of Thousand Oaks is currently seeking applicants who are interested in serving on the Planning Commission and the Traffic and Transportation Advisory Commission.

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif., December 12, 2024 -The City of Thousand Oaks is currently seeking applicants who are interested in serving on the Planning Commission and the Traffic and Transportation Advisory Commission. 


The Planning Commission reviews and decides whether to approve or deny applications for commercial, residential, industrial, and other development projects. The Commission also makes recommendations to the City Council on matters related to the City's General Plan, zoning ordinance and other City planning policies and regulations. Applicants must be City residents and file a Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) Conflict of Interest Statement within 30 days of appointment and annually thereafter; AB 1234 ethics and AB 1661 sexual harassment prevention training are required. 


The nominees will be recommended by Councilmembers Adam and Gutierrez and ratified by the full City Council. Applications are due by January 11, 2025 at 5:00 pm. For specific information on Commission responsibilities, please contact Kelvin Parker at (805) 449-2530 or kparker@toaks.gov. This recruitment is for two seats; terms to December 2028.  


The Traffic and Transportation Advisory Commission members meet to discuss and review information related to traffic issues, identify traffic problems and needs of residents, develop and recommend local and regional transportation needs, and propose solutions to City Council. Applicants must be City residents and file a Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) Conflict of Interest Statement within 30 days of appointment and annually thereafter. 


The nominees to the Traffic and Transportation Advisory Commission will be recommended by Councilmembers Adam, Gutierrez, and Newman and ratified by the full City Council. Applications are due by January 11, 2025 at 5:00 pm. For specific information on Commission responsibilities, please contact Jim Mashiko, at 805-449-2418 or jmashiko@toaks.gov. This recruitment is for three seats; Newman appointment has a term to December 2026 and Adam and Gutierrez appointments have terms to December 2028.
