LibCon Kickoff

Saturday, June 15 • 10:00 am – 4:00 pm • Newbury Park Library

Summer Reading Club

June 17 to August 11 

Join Summer Reading Club (SRC) and earn rewards for reading! Complete SRC by reading 8 books or reading 8 hours to earn a reward from our Treasure Chest and a ticket to enter one of the Grand Prize Opportunity Drawings. All ages welcome. LevelUp Lounge

Access all ages gaming with the Library’s Xbox Game Pass! Hang out and relax with games like No Man’s Sky, Powerwash Simulator, Forza, Sea of Stars, and over 250 more options!  


Spanish at Your Library 

Wednesdays, June 12 & 26 • 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm • GRB Technology Training Room 

Intermediate and advanced learners will gain a better understanding of how to express themselves in Spanish under the gentle guidance and support of a language-learning professional. For ages 14+. Registration preferred. Walk-ins are welcome if space allows. 


English as a Second Language (ESL) Conversation Group

Thursday, June 13 • 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm • GRB Technology Training Room 

Practice speaking English in an informal and friendly group setting. All skill levels are welcome, from beginners to advanced. For ages 14+. Registration preferred. Walk-ins welcome. 


Gosh Yarn It

Friday, June 14 • 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm • GRB Community Room 

Relax, crochet, and socialize at the Thousand Oaks Library’s crochet club! Beginners and experts alike are welcome to bring your own supplies and hang out with fellow crocheters as we sip tea and work on our projects. For ages 11+.  


Microsoft Word Basics

Thursday, June 27 • 11:30 am – 1:30 pm • GRB Technology Training Room  

Gain confidence using Microsoft Word to write resumes, lists, stories, or whatever you like by learning the basics. For ages 14+. Registration required. 


KIDS

Dog Days

Tuesdays • 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm • GRB Children’s Program Room

Readers of all levels and abilities are invited to come and read to a certified therapy dog! Participants will sign up for a brief 10-minute session with a dog and their owner. Recommended for school-age. 


Parent & Child Class for Toddlers

Mondays, June 17 & 24 • 10:15 am – 10:35 am & 11:00 am – 11:20 am • GRB Community Room 

Enjoy 20 minutes of simple stories and songs. For ages 12-36 months. Registration required. 


Reading Buddies

Each week, your child gets 30 minutes of in-person reading and book discussion. This series boosts your child's read aloud confidence and encourages them to share their thoughts and opinions. For students finishing grades 1-4. Registration required. 


Ina Buckner-Barnett, The Sunshine Storyteller

Ina weaves international tales, movement, and song together to create an interactive storytelling experience. Recommended for ages 5+. 


Low Sensory Storytime

A storytime for children with sensory processing disorders, including ASD, featuring dimmed lights, quiet songs, and books highlighting characters with sensory processing disorders. For ages 3-5. Registration required.    


Flights of Fantasy Storytelling Theatre

Through humor and laughter, Flights of Fantasy share interactive folktales and fables that spring to life. Recommended for ages 5+.

TEENS & TWEENS

Summer Teen Volunteers Needed!

The Library needs friendly teen volunteers during the Summer to help with Summer Reading Club, LibCon, and Library programs and activities. Apply ASAP for first choice in Library and volunteer shifts. Orientation Training sessions available starting in May. Volunteer shifts available June 15-August 11, 2024. Reading Rocks Book Club

Join us monthly to discuss books with strong female characters. This month’s books are Wish by Barbara O’Connor for the Rocks and A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park for the Boulders. Registration required. 


Genre Badge Brag Tags  

June 17 – Aug 11, 2024   

Read a book in a specific genre, finish a scavenger hunt in the Library, and claim your Genre Badge Brag Tag at the Library by August 11. While supplies last. 


Summer Journal

Star Gazer Pencil Case

Cursive for Tweens

30-minute workshops to practice writing the 26 letters of the alphabet, simple words, and short sentences. For students entering grades 6-8. Registration required.

This free support group is for moms and their newborns to get together in a relaxed environment to express their joys and concerns. A safe place to ask questions and meet other new moms in the community. 


Happily Ever After Book Club

Join us as we chat about our favorite romance novels, where a Happily Ever After (HEA)—or a Happily For Now (HFN)—is always guaranteed. This month’s book is The Duke Who Didn't by Courtney Milan. Walk-ins welcome.
