June 2024. Summer is here and Thousand Oaks Transit (TOT) is once again operating the Summer Beach Bus: a regularly scheduled public transit service. This year, TOT has expanded the Beach Bus routes to include travel between Thousand Oaks and Zuma Beach in Malibu and between Thousand Oaks and the Ventura Harbor Beaches! Ride stress-free, in air-conditioned comfort, to Zuma Beach and Ventura Harbor Beaches this summer from June 17th through August 10th (no buses July 4th).

Monday through Friday, the Beach Bus will make two round trips to Zuma Beach, and on Saturdays, it will make two round trips to the Ventura Harbor Beaches. For both routes, the Beach Bus departs from two convenient locations—the Borchard Community Center Parking Lot (190 N. Reino Road, Newbury Park) and the Thousand Oaks Teen Center Bus Stop (1375 E. Janss Rd). The Beach Bus drops off and picks up at Zuma Beach parking lot #8, and in Ventura, at Harbor Cove Beach and Harbor Village. For exact departure times please refer to the timetable posted at each stop or click HERE

The regular fare is $4.00 roundtrip ($1.00 for seniors aged 65 and older and persons with disabilities), cash only, and is collected in person at the time of boarding. Students from kindergarten through college ride the Beach Bus for free! Persons under the age of 6 must be accompanied by an adult. It is recommended for those under the age of 13 to be accompanied by a responsible guardian. Students should provide a student ID. Please note that seating for this program is limited and riders will be boarded on a first come, first served basis. Early arrival, at least 15 minutes before departure, is encouraged.

Riders of all ages love the Summer Beach Bus because there is no need to worry about navigating traffic or paying expensive parking fees at the beach. And with gas prices still hovering near $5.00 a gallon, the Summer Beach Bus is an economical way to travel to the Malibu coast and Ventura Harbor! The buses are equipped with real-time bus tracking data so riders (or their parents) can track the bus location in real time by using the GOVCbus app or by visiting www.govcbus.com/map
