Guard Rail Repairs

MI 2574

The City’s Local Road Safety Plan (LRSP) has identified 9 locations for guardrail replacement based on existing condition of the guardrails and the configuration of the road. At these locations, the existing guardrails have separated from the anchor posts, which have deteriorated (wood rot) due to age and exposure to elements or are no longer vertically upright.

The Guard Rail Repairs Project will replace approximately 1,800 feet of the existing guardrails at these 9 locations per most current Caltrans standards. The new guardrails in residential areas will be coated with rustic brown color for better blending into the surrounding environment. In addition, the project will replace 200 guardrail wood posts that have been damaged during the Woolsey fire at Olsen Road.

Timeline and Funding

The project construction began in April 2024, and will be completed in Fall 2024. The total estimated project cost is $590,000 and is included in the adopted FY 2023-25 Capital Improvement Budget. The total cost will be mostly offset by HSIP state grant in the amount of $512,500.
